Other than adding that missing component to your jelly sandwich, peanut butter is another weirdly useful pantry staple that can also be used as emergency shaving cream, door hinge lubricant, gum remover and more.

Peanut butter makes pill-swallowing easier and can help you remove gum from your hair, shoe or carpet. If you ever forget that you don't have any butter left when you are in the middle of baking or cooking, simply replace the amount of butter you were supposed to use with peanut butter—which works best for baked desserts.
