If you are sitting in front of a computer all day for your work, make the most of it by exercising your different muscle groups even while you are finishing a PowerPoint presentation or filling out cells in an Excel worksheet.
Stretch your upper body muscles to keep your neck and back from going stiff. Do regular wrist rolls to avoid getting carpal tunnel syndrome. And if your boss allows it, sit on an exercise ball instead of a regular desk. You might look a little goofy, but at least you will have a better chance of achieving a perfect six-pack than if you sit on a regular desk chair with wheels.

Also, use software to remind yourself to take breaks. On Windows and Linux my favorite by far is WorkRave; it has a few rough edges and some useful missing features but it's about 95% on the way to perfect. On the Mac I don't have any firm recommendation but BreakZ is pretty decent (unfortunately, some of Apple's usability mandates directly get in the way of things that a typing break program needs to be truly effective).
Very useful information. Thanks for sharing!
This was interesting. I am performing the water bottle lift now lol!
I love this! Is it possible to fix the link to enlarge the picture? I would love to print it out. Thank you!
Hi Heather,
Oh, no! I'm having someone look into this. In the meantime, feel free to provide your e-mail address (my contact info is on my website yumisakugawa.com so you don't have to publicly post your contact info here) and I would be more than happy to send you a high-res image for you to print out.
Hi Heather, Problem should be fixed now!
Can I suggest that you add "Incidental Exercise Enabler" as an option. This utility allows you to control a computer with exercise motions. For example, you can use swimming motions to scroll up and down a document. This is a proof of concept and with the support and promotion of people like you we can be 'active sedentary'.
