If you've got a couple empty coffee cans getting ready to go out to the recycling—don't get rid of them just yet. Instead, use them to make your own homemade ice cream. It's the perfect DIY treat as the weather gets warmer in anticipation of the summer season.
Mix together whole milk, whipping cream, and sugar in an empty 1 pound coffee can. Close the lid and shake vigorously. Place the coffee can containing the ingredients into a larger coffee can. Pack the empty space with ice cubes and rock salt, close lid, and roll the two coffee cans for ten minutes. Add toppings, roll for another ten minutes, and open the lids to both coffee cans.
Some homemade treats are definitely worth the extra effort.

Mmm! That looks Yumtastic! I know i'll be giving that one a go.
Yeah, let us know how it goes if you do!
This is really clever! I always see great-looking recipes but I don't have an ice cream maker, so I'll definitely have to give this a shot.
Please do! :)
My ex-husband's grandma showed me how to do this years ago. We used to make homemade peach or black berry ice cream. Great way to keep the kids entertained during hunting season and everyone benefited from their fun.
