Cut Costs in Your Laundry Room with These Easy DIY Fabric Softeners

To make your own fabric softener at home, simply mix together six parts water, three parts white vinegar, and two parts hair conditioner into one solution. Once you're done mixing, use ½ cup of the solution for every load of laundry during the rinse cycle to soften your clothes and to keep them static-free.

For a simpler method, you can make a solution out of baking soda and white vinegar. For an even simpler method, you can simply add about a ½ cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle. Notice a key ingredient that all of the methods have in common?

If your clothes are still a little staticky after washing and drying, you can immediately repel static from your clothing by running them through a metal hanger.
