For the green thumbs who have minimal gardening tools, all you need to do is to start digging through your kitchen and bathroom for some common household items. Extra toilet paper tubes and empty egg cartons are perfect for starting seedlings before they're ready to be planted into the ground. For fertilizing your soil, you can always use the old standby of coffee grounds or used tea leaves.

And when your little egg carton seedling actually becomes a full-grown fruit tree, you can use strips of aluminum foil to hang on the tree branches to ward off any fruit-eating birds. All your less innovative gardening friends who wasted their time and money on a designer scarecrow will be green with envy.
